MURAK RAI TIMOR, E.P. (MRT) is a state-owned mining company established pursuant to the Government Decree Law no. 64/2023, of 6 September 2023, with principal roles to carry out Mining Activities including exploration, mining, transportation, marketing and decommissioning as well as provision of services aimed to support Mining Activities in Timor-Leste and abroad.

Since its establishment, MRT has engaged in numerous projects ranging from prospecting and exploration in Timor-Leste through its own project and joint venture partnership with various companies targeting different type mineral commodities ranging from industrial minerals, base and precious metals, as well as critical minerals such as rare earth elements. Currently, MRT holds up to 28 concessions with combined exploration areas approximately 1,260 km2, 4 of these areas are solely owned by the MRT.
